about this mix

For the first episode of the A G E M O W O R O S introducing radio show I picked the British surrealist experimental band Nurse With Wound. I have been following Nurse With Wound since the mid 80’s and bought my first Nurse With Wound album in 1985 or 1986.

Over a period of 40 years they have released over 100 albums, so I thought this is a band that’s well suited for the concept of this show because if you have heard about Nurse With Wound but haven’t actually listened to much of their music it can be a little bit difficult to know where to start because there are simply so many releases and they can also vary a lot. Steven Stapleton the head of the band works with different and changing collaborators so the sound from one album to the next can differ quite a lot. Over the years I have found many albums that I absolutely love and keep going back to and by now I have accumulated quite an extensive collection of NWW CDs and records.

I really like the more ambient experimental side of the band and for this mix I picked 20 tracks of music that spans a 40 year period, with the oldest track from the early eighties and the most recent one from 2021’s Opium Cabaret album.

This is a more ambient mix of Nurse With Wound’s music, it includes some drone and noise and is maybe a bit spooky at times, something I really like about this music, the atmospheres and the way it can draw you into its world. I hope you enjoy this mix.
