I know a lot of people think they don’t have the time…

(Jenus)

about this mix

This is the first mix I released after leaving my position as manager of the Ostgut Ton record label, the mix was also used to promote the ambient floor at the first edition of the 7001 Festival where I played that year, which resulted in the mix being featured in a lot of articles about that festival. While creating this mix I reflected on the launch and run of the Berghain Halle Elektroakustischer Salon, where I played the very first opening set and once a year since.

The Berghain Halle Elektroakustischer Salon created a new environment within the club, where playing a totally different set of music was possible for the first time, it enabled me to realize my vision of what kind of music I wanted to hear inside such a space within a Klubnacht. During the first years I was part of the programming team for the special Klubnacht feat. Halle events (Ostgut Ton birthdays and New Year parties) and so several of my favourite ambient artists played there alongside me over the years, it was a wonderful time.

The mix pretty much recreates a possible Jenus Halle set within the shorter 2.5 hour long mix duration, usually a set like this would be 4 hours long, sometimes even longer.

Thank you very much to Inverted Audio and 7001 Festival for having made this release possible, until today it’s still one of the most popular ambient mixes within the long running Inverted Audio Mix Series and I still get positive comments about it from time to time. I am very grateful that I got the chance to get such big exposure with this mix. The time after leaving Ostgut Ton was a period of a lot of changes for me, I look back on it very fondly. It took a lot of courage to make that change, but then I have always been driven by trying out new and different things in my life, I think this will never stop.
